MILOSEVIC MOVE IN SOME DOUBT

Aston Villa striker Savo Milosevic's proposed £4.5million transfer to Perugia could break down because the Italian club are now refusing to meet the asking price for the player.

Villa chairman Doug Ellis admitted today that there was ``a problem at the Perugia end'' with the Serie A club understood to be wanting the fee reduced by at least £1million for any deal to go ahead.

Milosevic flew out to Italy in midweek expecting the deal to be sealed after revealing he had agreed personal terms with Perugia during a four day visit.

But Brian Little's £3.5 million signing from Partizan Belgrade 16 months ago departed this morning to prepare for Yugoslavia's World Cup tie against the Czech Republic with the transfer still far from resolved.

Although declining to go into details of the hold-up, Ellis laid the blame firmly at the door of Perugia.

He said: ``The problem is definitely at the Perugia end. As far as we are concerned at this stage, we've shaken hands on the transfer and agreed everything.''

The hold-up will be frustrating for Little who intends to use the money from the Milosevic deal to finance moves for a new striker with Stan Collymore, Pierre Van Hooydonk and Emile Heskey all rumoured to interest him.
